VIEWING: For the late Catherine F. Hosten, who died at the age of 82years, will be held on
Wednesday, September 29th, From 5-7.
Funeral Service Immediately Following at 7:00PM
LOCATION: St.Matthew's R.C.Church
1123 Eastern Parkway (Corner of Utica)
Brooklyn NY
Final arrangement is entrusted to La Qua Brothers, Grenada, West Indies.
The Funeral service in Grenada will be held on Tues. October 5, 2010 at the Sauteurs RC Church and interment at the Marli Cemetery.
The Hosten family acknowledges with grateful appreciation your prayers, cards, phone calls and all other acts of kindness shown to us during our time of bereavement.

Every sunrise that begins in the morning eventually fades at dusk. Every flower that blooms soon withers and dies. Everyday that begins must come to an end; as was the life of Catherine Flossie Hosten who departed this life on September 22,2010. Flossie fought a good fight, but succumbed to an extended illness peacefully at Horton’s Hospital in Middletown, New York.
Flossie was born in Mt. Craven, St. Patrick’s, Grenada on March 22,1928 to the late Doris Alexander and Elmore Neckles. To secure a better life for herself, Flossie moved to St. Georges where she later married the late Cuthbert Hosten. To this union four children were born: Clifford, Christine, Christopher and Clarence.
After many years of living in the city, Flossie eventually moved back to St. Patrick’s and became a sole proprietor. During her life, Flossie endured the heartache of burying two of her sons: Clifford (K.I.A Vietnam) and Rawle. She remained strong through a very painful time in her life. Her life experiences molded her into the virtuous woman that she was.
Flossie was a beautiful soul who was known to be loving, caring, generous, attentive, sensitive and hardworking. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and traveling. She played a pivotal role in the lives of those who knew and loved her. To those who were sad, she encouraged. To those who needed to be heard, she provided a listening ear. To those who needed advise, she counseled. To those who were ill, she became a caregiver. To those who needed to be loved, she opened her heart. The door was always opened to those in need.
Flossie was the matriarch and the very life force of her family. She had a fulfilling and lengthy life. Flossie cared deeply about her family, friends, and neighbors. She will be greatly missed, but even more fondly remembered.
Flossie will be forever remembered by: her devoted brothers, Clunis, Lionel, and Ivan; Loving sisters, Maudlyn, Deanna, and Avis; Beloved children, Christine (Agnes) Jackson, Christopher and Clarence Hosten.; Son-In-Law, Reginald Jackson; Daughter-in-Law, Anthea (Debbie) Hosten; Treasured grandchildren; Cherry, Marina, Meredith, (Pinky) Jaukenia, Rohan, Shauna, Dwaine, Chantell, Tiffany, Nadia, Alyssa, Christopher Jr., Ciedah and Christal: Eight great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Brothers-In-Law, Lyle, Cyril, Osbert and Joe: Uncles Nicodemus, and Alston: One aunt, Magna; Many nieces and nephews to include Jacintha and Alvin (John Bull) for whom she cared for from infants to adults, and were treated as her own children. Numerous other relatives and friends from Mt. Craven, Sauteurs and the other surrounding villages.
