Special Info |
Mazie Ogiste was born in Marli, St. Patrick’s Grenada on October
10th, 1915 to the parents of Willamina Ogiste and Willie Belfon.
Ms. Mazie not only raised her own children, but her grandchildren as well.
She worked hard to ensure that she provided the proper provisions to support
her family.
Ms. Mazie migrated to the U.S at the age of 75 and spent 19 years abroad.
While in the U.S, Ms. Mazie continued her devotion to children by babysitting
various kids in the neighborhood. Ms. Mazie loved and was loved. The only
thing she hated was wearing pants. Many would remember Ms. Mazie as a
sassy and outgoing lady with a sly tongue. She loved telling jokes and knew how to
hold a good conversation. At the age of 93, Ms. Mazie was physically stronger
than those twenty years her junior. She had all her senses and was as sharp as
ever, never missing a beat. Ms. Mazie lived a fulfilled life until God called
her to rest.
Mazie Ogiste is survived by her siblings: Suzan Baptiste and Doris Belfon.
Her seven kids: Roselyn, Josephine, Louise, Kingsly, Laslyn, Denise and
Rolston. Twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-two great grand.
Mazie is also survived by nieces and nephews: Ann, Monica, Dominic, Agnis,
Alfred, Roy, Crafton, Vernon, Lynthia, Donald, Carie, Roselyn, Ronald and
many more. Ms. Mazie was well loved and will truly be missed.
